    Boring content is a choice

    Boring content is a choice

Boring content is everywhere. White papers that say nothing. LinkedIn posts that could have been written by anyone. Videos that look like they were approved by twelve committees. And the worst part? Most of it was expensive.

Boring content is not a resource problem. It is a choice problem. Safe, generic, committee-approved content happens when the people making it are more afraid of offending someone than of being ignored.

    Attention is the real currency

Your audience is not short of information. They are short of time. If your content does not make them stop, think or feel something in the first few seconds, they will scroll on. That is true for a tweet, a blog post, a video or a landing page.

The brands that win are the ones that have a point of view. They take a stance. They say the thing their competitors are too nervous to say. They sound like a real person, not a corporate press release.

Three questions to make content sharper

    Before you publish anything, ask:

    • What is the one thing the reader will remember?
    • Would anyone share this unprompted?
    • Does this sound like it came from us, or from a generic AI?

If you cannot answer the first question clearly, the content is not ready. If the answer to the second is no, the content is not useful. If the answer to the third is the latter, it needs a voice pass.

    Practical sharpness

Sharp content does not mean controversial for the sake of it. It means having a clear angle, a strong opening, and a structure that respects the reader's time. It means cutting the fluff, the jargon and the paragraphs that exist only to make the writer feel clever.

If your content could be published by any company in your category, it is not doing its job.

The best content sounds like your brand having a conversation with a smart customer. It teaches, challenges, or entertains. It is not a brochure.
